After May 31st, 2019 Intuit will discontinue support for QuickBooks 2016, which includes cutting off access to any add-on services that you may have such as Online Banking.


What does this mean for you?

After May 31st, all QuickBooks 2016 add-ons will no longer function. While the basic version of QuickBooks 2016 will still function, it is not recommended to continue using it as support and security updates for it will no longer be available. Below are the products affected:

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2016
  • QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2016
  • QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2016
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 16
  • QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2016

The add-on services that will not work include QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Services, Live Support, Online Backup, and Online Banking. This means that you will not be able to process payroll, download banking transactions, obtain support, or have your data backed up online.


What is recommended:

We strongly encourage you to make sure you backup all of your work as soon as possible. Regardless of the update, this needs to be done at least every couple weeks using the “backup and verify” method. If you need any assistance with this, please contact us. While the base QuickBooks 2016 products will continue to work without any of the additional services, you will not receive any security updates. That is why even if you only use the base program, we still strongly recommend upgrading to QuickBooks 2019.
